Midland University’s Center for Graduate & Professional Studies is proud to announce the recent addition of Dr. Cammy Romanuck Murphy to the Walker School of Education as the new Director of Graduate Programs.

Dr. Romanuck Murphy holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Trident University International, a Master of Arts in P-8 Educational Administration from Wayne State College, a Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, and Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Minot State University.

She began her career as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and remained an active SLP for nine years in K-12 education. Her passion was and still is supporting students with disabilities to thrive socially, emotionally, academically, and communicatively.

“I hold a firm belief that all students can and will learn. As a part of my past role as a SLP, I served in a variety of special education leadership activities that led to enhancing student learning and organizational effectiveness.”

In early 2019, Dr. Romanuck Murphy began teaching graduate courses as an adjunct instructor, in addition to her role as an SLP. She taught in the Masters and Doctoral programs at Trident University International in the College of Education and in the Communication Disorders undergraduate program at the University of Nebraska, Kearney.

In 2021, Dr. Romanuck Murphy accepted a full-time doctoral professor role with Trident University International. She has expertise in fostering online environments that are inclusive, motivational, and engaging, and she has developed and delivered a multitude of professional development training (both locally and nationally) on these subjects.

“My mission for learning is to create a positive student experience by maintaining an inclusive and equitable classroom environment. My approach to instruction is student-centered and relevant, and I really strive to support students to increase their competence and confidence.”

Her experience in PK-12 settings and teaching online graduate courses, paired with her experience in course development and knowledge of best practices in online settings, supports Midland University’s innovative movement to transition graduate programs in the Walker School of Education exclusively online.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the Midland team. My family and I have lived overseas for seven years. My husband is active duty military, and we move approximately every three years. Prior to moving overseas, we lived in Papillion, and we were thrilled to find out we would be moving back!”

“I had always known Midland by its positive reputation, and when I saw there was an opening that fit my skill set so well, I was eager to join. After meeting the interview committee and Midland team, I knew immediately that Midland was special and that this was the place for me as they value collaboration and innovation. The WSOE faculty is passionate about supporting students to thrive as educators and leaders.”

Romanuck Murphy looks forward to working with Midland University in the Walker School of Education.

“We have many exciting things happening in the WSOE!. We currently have thriving graduate programs and a variety of course offerings for graduate students. We are in the process of developing a rigorous and cutting edge doctoral program (EdD), which will be the first doctoral program Midland has ever offered.”

“I am enthusiastic about the experiences our students have available to them already in our graduate programs, and I’m looking forward to continuing to expand and enhance our graduate-level programs in the future. We have many exciting opportunities to come, and it is difficult to know where to start in terms of defining what is the most exciting!”

Dr. Cammy Romanuck Murphy grew up in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She met my now-husband while going to college in Minot, North Dakota where afterward they were stationed overseas in several countries, including Germany and Italy. During these four years overseas, they had two beautiful girls: Rylee Sarah Murphy and Amillia Ryan Murphy.

Her family loves to travel, explore, hike, cook, and simply spend time with family and friends. They are big foodies as they will try anything and everything while finding restaurants all over the place.

Welcome to Midland University, Dr. Cammy Romanuck Murphy.

The Center for Graduate and Professional Studies at Midland University has 11 programs across five colleges. Plus, a talented team of faculty and staff that are available to help students find the right program to fit their lifestyle and career goals.
